Finnish AIDS Council

The Finnish AIDS Council is run by the HIV Foundation. It aims to:

  • Prevent HIV infections.
  • Enhance the competence of social and health care professionals in handling HIV questions.
  • Support people with HIV infection, their families and friends, and those concerned about HIV.

The services of the Finnish AIDS Council have been available since 1986. The organization is ideologically and religiously independent. Finland's Slot Machine Association (RAY) is the main financier of the Finnish AIDS Council. Its contribution covers 70-80 per cent of the costs. Part of the funding comes from local authorities and Finnish Ministries, and the AIDS Council's own fundraising campaigns. The Finnish AIDS Council's annual budget is EUR1.4 million.
