Upon request, the Finnish AIDS Council arranges courses relating to HIV, AIDS, safer sex and sexual health. We offer training services to schools, educational institutions, social and health care professionals and students, other professionals, and various population groups.
The courses are tailored to meet the client's needs and wishes. The price of the training course depends on the content, duration and target group. The trainers are employees from the Finnish AIDS Council and/or properly trained volunteers. We also provide training in Swedish and English.
In addition to training courses, we offer guidance, counseling and consultancy services.
The multicultural training is intended for social and health care professionals, professionals working with immigrants, and various immigrant groups. The training focuses on the multicultural aspect and emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity in connection with HIV infection and sexual issues. The training provides social and health care professionals with skills to meet HIV-positive immigrants, provide services for them, and discuss sexual questions with people of an immigrant background. We also offer professionals consultancy in multicultural and HIV issues and in providing services for HIV-positive immigrants.
We aim to support the sexual growth of young people and promote their sexual health. The training gives basic facts about HIV, AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, and safer sex. We emphasize the individual's responsibility for his or her sexual behavior, the approval of diversity, and the multiple dimensions of sexuality.
We provide training services for students in secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and vocational institutions. The training may comprise lectures, workshops or a theme day for the entire school, for example.
We also attend events and festivals targeted at young people.
The training targeted at professionals aims to give objective, up-to-date information about HIV infection. Correct information relieves the fears and negative attitudes toward HIV and improves the professionals' skills to meet HIV-positive people and their families, and to give care and support to them.
We also provide training courses that focus on the needs of HIV-positive people belonging to some specific group.
We receive visiting groups from schools, workplaces and, especially, from social and health care educational institutions. We tell about our work and give basic information about HIV infection and safer sex, and answer questions.
